COURSE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES 1. Identify various research methods and their characteristics used in the scientific study of psychology. (PSLO 1,2) Measured by embedded test questions, course assignments and projects. 2. Describe the historical influences and early schools of thought that shaped the field of psychology.(PSLO 1,2) Measured by course assignments and projects. 3. GRADING POLICY: Your final course letter grade will be based on a percentage of 1000 total required points as follows: Letter Grades Point Totals Approximate Percentages A 900 - 1000 90%+ B 800 - 899 80-89% C 700 - 799 70-79% D 600 - 699 60-69% F 599 and below 59% and below ALL EXAM, QUIZ,ASSIGNMENT AND PROJECT SCORES WILL BE USED IN CALCULATING YOUR COURSE GRADE. You will be completing exams and quizzes ONLINE and recording your responses on an online test form, which you will access using the the Blackboard website for your course. 3. All exam, quiz, assignment and project scores will be used in calculating your course grade. Plagiarism, written or oral, will result minimally in failure of the assignment (1st offense) and failure of the course (2nd offense). 10. All work turned in for credit must include a complete heading, including student's first and last names, course name (PSYC), course number, correct course section number and date the work was completed. 11. All written assignments created by students must use file format doc or docx. Do not use pages file format documents common to Apple devices. 12. Attendance or participation in class activity is expected to be completed on a daily and punctual basis. 13. The instructor expects that students will display mature behavior in online activities. This includes being responsible for your actions and treating your classmates, instructor and yourself with respect at all times. Failure to do so may result in your removal from the classroom or the course. 14. Documents required to be saved in doc or docx file format and attached to appropriate submission pages. 15. Students should spend a minimum of 3-6 hours per week on this course's assignments. 16. Plagiarism in this class will not be tolerated. Any assignment submitted that contains plagiarism will earn an automatic zero. Further action may be taken as determined by the instructor. 17. The instructor created the psychology core assignment to be submitted as a series of 3 drafts and a final version so that section errors in the drafts can be corrected in the final version, based on feedback given on the earlier drafts. 26. Attendance Policy |
Research has shown a strong positive relationship between attendance, participation and college success. I strongly recommend regular participation in this course, both mental and physical. Participation will help you succeed in this course. CAUTION: I will not automatically drop your name from the class roll because you do not participate in class activities. MAKEUP WORK: Makeup work may be completed by students who miss class because of official college activities. Verification by means of a written message by a college official or sponsor is required to allow makeup work to be completed. Illness or travel will not be accepted as a reason for make up work.
