Course Information
Description A review of major topics covered on the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCE).

Instructor Policies
  • All assignments, quizzes, labs, and exams will be used in calculating your course grade.
  • No extra credit is given semester 2 except for active Allied Health Society members who participate in meetings or events.
  • Late work will receive deducted points as follows:
  • 24 Hours- 10 points
  • 48 Hours –20 points
  • 72 Hours –not accepted
  • In class activities and participation will include assessments of videos, games, group presentations, EVERYONE is expected to stay engaged as this is 15% of your class grade.
  • Complete the required readings, assignments, discussions as directed by the instructor
  • Any student that makes below a 75 on a quiz or exam will be required to complete a session of related content on tutor.com or review session with your instructor.
  • Additional assignments, quizzes, or exams may be given at any time throughout the course of the semester to increase the opportunity of the student’s successful completion of the program. Also, any student that makes a 75% or below on an exam/quiz will be required to attend a tutor.com session.
  • Keep copies of ALL paperwork, including syllabus, handouts, and assignments in the designated binder for this course.
  • Participate actively by reviewing course material, interacting with classmates and group partners, and responding promptly in communication with your instructor.
  • No grades will be discussed over the phone, as you can make an appointment with your instructor.

  • The following materials are officially PROHIBTED in the classroom meetings for this course: food, drink, or tobacco. This policy agrees with the official college policy, breaks will be given.
  • The instructor expects that students illustrate mature behavior with respect to being responsible for your own actions, being respectful of others. Failure to comply may result in removal from the classroom or the course.
  • Students will be expected to be in the Pharmacy Technician program complete uniform in class and clinical as you will not be allowed to attend class or clinical without the proper attire (scrubs, jacket, tennis shoes) which can lead to an unexcused absence and a zero for the day. Any other outside items such as blankets, hoodies etc. are not permitted in class.
  • Students should use their LSCPA email account to send messages to the instructor.
  • Cell phones are to be put away when class starts and during class, students will be allowed to use their phone during break time unless there is an emergency in which the instructor should be notified, if a student is caught with their phone out they will be asked to leave the classroom with a grade of zero given for the day.
Attendance Policy
  • All students are expected to attend class daily.
  • Class starts at 1:00 p.m. You are permitted a 5 minute grace period. AFTER 5 MINUTES, NO ENTRY will be allowed as this is a disruption to the class, you will be permitted to enter during break time, but no work will be retaught, nor will handouts be given; you must get with a fellow student for your work.
  • TEST or QUIZ Day, when the first person turns in their exam no entry will be allowed into the class.
  •  A student who is absent from class more than 3 days may be at risk of being dropped from the program by the Program Director.
  • Late arrivalto class is disruptive, any student arriving more than five (5) minutes late should not enter the classroom and should wait until break time to enter. Repetitive classroom or lab tardiness (2 or more) will result in a 5-point deduction on the next exam grade.
  •  Students who arrive after a quiz or exam starts, but before it ends, may take the quiz or exam without penalty but no additional time will be given, when the first person turns in their exam there will be NO ENTRY into the class for testing.
  • It is the student's responsibility to notify the instructor of ANY absence PRIOR to class or clinical. If unable to reach the instructor in the office, please leave a voicemail AND email using the student's campus email. Absences must be followed up with the proper documentation for student records. If no contact is made prior to class or clinical, assignment for the day and absence will be considered unexcused and a zero will be given and not allowed to be made up.
  • If an exam or quiz is missed, the student will only be allowed to makeup with the proper documentation for an excused absence AND instructor notification of absence PRIOR to class or if incapacitated within 24 hours and a different exam or quiz will be given with the zero being replaced with the exam or quiz grade.
Additional Information Success is not given, it’s earned! Expect to spend at least twice as many hours per week outside of class as you do in class studying course content. Additional time will be required for written assignments, which MUST be typed using correct grammar and spelling, using complete sentences when necessary. Successful completion of this course requires a combination of the following:

·       Completing assignments, projects, labs

COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings when directly exposed to COVID 19 in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Facility Policies No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
HB 2504 This syllabus is part of LSCPA's efforts to comply with Texas House Bill 2504.
Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect As per Texas law and LSCPA policy, all LSCPA employees, including faculty, are required to report allegations or disclosures of child abuse or neglect to the designated authorities, which may include a local or state law enforcement agency or the Texas Department of Family Protective Services.
