Large Commercial Music Ensemble - Band
|Description||Participation in a large band concentrating on commercial music performance styles.|
|Prerequisites||Acceptance into the Commercial Music program|
1) Demonstrate rehearsal skills to include ensemble precision, intonation, sight-reading, sound, and style (PSLO 1,2,3,4)
2) Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate repertoire (PSLO 1,3,4)
3) Demonstrate appropriate improvisational ability (PSLO 1,4)
4) Demonstrate an understanding of basic performance techniques (PSLO 1,2,3,4)
5) Identify all main ideas, supporting details, and vocabulary in reading material; demonstrate a full understanding of the reading; (PSLO Alpha)
* Communication skills: Students will demonstrate effective written, oral and visual communication.
* Critical Thinking Skills: Students will engage in creative and/or innovative thinking, and/or inquiry, analysis, evaluation, synthesis of information, organizing concepts and constructing solutions.
* Empirical and Quantitative Skills: Students will demonstrate applications of scientific and mathematical concepts.
* Teamwork: Students will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others to support a shared purpose or goal and consider different points of view.
* Social Responsibility: Students will demonstrate intercultural competency and civic knowledge by engaging effectively in local, regional, national and/or global communities.

2. Applies commercial music sound engineering technology to support performance practices.
3. Applies basic music industry principles to professional practice.
4. Demonstrates professional behavior characterized by a commitment to the profession.

* Performances 30%
* If a student misses a scheduled performance they may receive a failing grade for the course. Instructor will exercise discretion in these matters.
|Attendance Policy||You get one 1 free absence before your lates/absences start to count against your grade in the attendance category. After that, each absence deducts 5% of your attendance grade. Three lates/early departures will count as one absence.|
|Academic Honesty||Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.|
