Course Information
Description Architectural drafting procedures, practices, terms, and symbols. Preparation of detailed working drawings for residential structures. Emphasis on light frame construction methods.
Prerequisites Basic CAD (DFTG 1409), Technical Drafting (DFTG 1305)
Learning Outcomes Utilize architectural terms, symbols, residential construction materials, and processes to produce a set of residential construction drawings including site plan, floor plan, elevations, wall sections, schedules, details, and foundation plan using reference materials.

Program Student Learning Outcomes PSLO 2. Utilize drafting terms, symbols, construction materials, and processes to produce drawings; identify components of structural, architectural, civil, mechanical or pipe systems; use charts and standards; generate isometric or perspective drawings; calculate measurements for pipe fittings, stick frame structures, metal structures, earthwork, or roadways; create layouts and drawings related to the five disciplines studied.

PSLO 3. Identify terminology and basic functions used with CAD software; use computer hardware and CAD software to create, organize, and plot/print working drawings; use intermediate functions of CAD software to create and print drawings.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies 1. I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come
to my office, in person.
2. I do not allow e-cigarettes or vaping in my classroom in addition to tobacco (including dip).
3. No foul or harsh language will be tolerated.
4. Headphones may be worn only upon instructor approval.
5. Do not bring children to class.
6. No cheating of any kind will be tolerated. Students caught cheating or helping someone to cheat can and will
be removed from the class for the semester. Cheating can result in expulsion from LIT.
7. If you wish to drop a course, the student is responsible for initiating and completing the drop process. If you
stop coming to class and fail to drop the course you will earn an “F” in the course.
8. Backups a. It is the student’s responsibility to make back-up copies of their work. Do not rely on the server to
be there 100% of the time. I cannot help you if you lose your work. Remember that in order for your work to
be graded it must be turned in.
9. Internet usage Classroom computers have access to the internet.
1. Student usage of the internet will be monitored.
2. Proper usage of the internet will be allowed to be used for classroom research or as directed.
3. Any unauthorized use of the internet will not be tolerated.
4. Improper usage of the internet, such as profanity, pornography, gambling, etc. will result in disciplinary
action not limited to expulsion from LSCPA.
10. The instructor has the prerogative to change the course schedule and topics, as well as, the due dates of
quizzes and assignments as deemed necessary.
11. Students may be moved around for the purpose of taking a test.
12. Every student must have a copy of the required textbooks and supplies.
13. Grades will be posted on Blackboard.
Attendance Policy 1.    A student is allowed a maximum of 6 absences and may be automatically dropped from the course on the 7th absence.

2.    Three (3) tardies are equivalent to 1 absence

3.    A student's grade will drop a full letter grade for every 3 absences.

4.    Attendance is defined as actively participating and listening in class.

5.    Each class is worth 10 points each with students being graded on their level of participation.

5     Coming in late or after lecture, leaving early, and texting/taking calls
3     Working on another class' homework in addition to the other
0     Not in attendance, playing games or viewing inappropriate websites
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.

  1. No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom.

  2. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission.
